Irem Sozugecer is the Founder and Managing Partner of Deep Capital Partners, a Private Equity Fund Management and Investment Advisory house primarily focused on Turkey’s SMEs in growth sectors. Between 2007-2010 she was heading the Principal Investment practice of Ackermans van Haaren, a BEL20 Indexed diversified investment group, during which period she developed an exclusive portfolio of numerous deals in Turkey varying from consumer products & services to minerals & aggregates and renewable energy. She is also a Venture Partner with the European VC, Hummingbird Ventures, working with their Turkey focused VC Fund for high-growth digital media and software companies. Irem Sozugecer is also on the Board of Turkey’s Science Foundation, the Sustainable Development Platform, which she initiated in 2007 with the Wharton Faculty Dr. Ulku Oktem and Dr. Paul Kleindorfer, and several other non-profit organizations and initiatives primarily focusing on the education and empowerment of children and women. She is an avid outdoors sports enthusiast from climbing to diving and is also an amateur tri-athlete.
Irem Sozugecer is one of the pioneers of VC and PE industry in Turkey where she started the first VC fund for IT and Internet companies, Silkroad Ventures, in 2000. She has extensive experience in consulting, entrepreneurship, start-ups, early-stage and growth capital investments. She has several Board positions in VC-Funded technology start-ups in Turkey and the US and in small-to-mid size consumer products companies in Turkey.
Irem Sozugecer has a BS in Economics from the Wharton School. She is fluent in Turkish, English and German.
